Solar energy, panels, and lights

Solar energyWelcome to energycodesonline.com! Our Web site is dedicated to bringing you useful and unbiased information on renewable energy resources.

Energy is considered renewable if it is naturally replenished. Interest in such resources has been increasing due to global warming concerns. The use of renewable energy sources decreases carbon dioxide emissions which are considered great contributors to global warming.

Here are some important terms to know which are related to renewable energy:
• Biofuels – fuels which come from recently deceased biological material such as plants. They are different from fossil fuels, which come from long dead biological sources.
• Biomass – living or recently dead material that can be used for industrial production or as fuel (such as plant matter for biofuel.)
• Geothermal power – power that comes from heat that has either been stored below the Earth’s surface or absorbed in the atmosphere or ocean.
• Hydro power – energy that comes from moving water. Hydroelectricity is the most widely used form of renewable energy.
• Solar power – power that comes from solar radiation, or the rays of the sun. It is harnessed through either photovoltaic or thermal methods.
• Tidal power –a form of hydro power that converts the energy of tides into useful forms of energy such as electricity.
• Wave power – energy that comes from waves of the ocean’s surface. It is often co-mingled with tidal power but is considered distinct.
• Wind power – power from wind that is acquired through the use of wind turbines.

Historically, low fossil-fuel prices have shadowed the value of renewable energy resources. This is especially true of natural gas. Currently, a number of incentives from State and Federal Government have encouraged the production and use of renewable energy sources. The Energy Policy Acts of 2002 and 2005 are examples of this.

When renewable energy resources are used, the demand for fossil fuels is reduced. In addition to that benefit, most of these power resources do not directly emit green house gasses. For these reasons, encouraging the use of renewable energy is a very environmentally-conscious choice.

Solar energy is an easy source of renewable energy to harness for home use. There are many residential solar power systems of different sizes which absorb and store different levels of energy. Solar panels can gain electricity through photovoltaic methods, or gain heat with solar thermal techniques.

Photovoltaic solar panels are made up of cells which convert solar power into electricity. Having a solar electrical system installed can reduced your reliance on city power, which reduces the use of fossil fuels. Solar chargers use photovoltaic technology to charge batteries for many small appliances. These chargers can come in personal sizes for easy transport and convenient use. Using solar lights outdoors is another eco-friendly solar power option.
